There are other libraries such as carrier wave direct that may also be able to enable you to upload your images directly to S3, however without the low level knowledge of all the client side considerations implementing them can be difficult.īy using the jQuery-File-Upload plugin we will create a relatively readable and short JavaScript code that can be re-used on any form using an image upload input. This article uses the jQuery-File-Upload plugin and the AWS gem. This article shows how to accomplish this. The only downside is that all the logic must be performed on the client side. This way it does not matter if our dyno is restarted while the image is uploaded, your dyno does not need to handle the extra load of image uploads, and you don’t have to wait for the file to upload twice, once to your dyno and once to S3. While this works well for small files, larger files may be deleted from the dyno before they can be uploaded to S3 due to Heroku’s ephemeral filesystem.Ī more stable alternative is to upload the image to S3 directly from the client side, and when the image is fully uploaded save the reference URL in the database. They typically upload the file to Heroku and then stream it to S3. While there are many popular S3 image upload solutions for Ruby and Rails such as Paperclip and CarrierWave, these solutions use the server as a temporary cache. This article demonstrates how to add direct S3 uploads to a Rails app. This article has not been updated to reflect the latest changes in libraries and may no longer work. As a builder, it’s important to know where those systems will be routed, so you can leave space for them to be laid in. The MEP systems are usually delivered in a bundle as separate drawings. Think of MEP as the central nervous system of a building, since every mechanical function that occurs in a building, from ensuring its air quality to planning its electronic and communications systems, to laying out complex piping routes, is performed by an MEP engineer. The structural prints are sent back to the architect for review, and the team signs off on them before they’re included in the package and sent to the builder. The structural prints get into all of that detail.” “The architectural prints show how the building is supposed to look, how it’s supposed to interact with the humans that are living in it… However, it doesn’t give you any information on how to build it in such a way that it doesn’t fall down. They are shown from the ground up in other words you’ll see a structural drawing for each floor of the house. The structural drawings show how the house will be framed, and how the building will be given its structure. Once the architectural drawings are complete, the architect sends those prints to an engineer, who uses them to create the structural prints. Section drawings show what the building would look if you were to make a vertical cut through a particular part of a building to show a cross section of the structure, and how the spaces inside fit together vertically. An interior elevation shows the same thing, only from inside the house. An exterior elevation shows you what a house like if you’re standing front, next to, or behind it. Structural connections, window openings, and wall junctions can all be included in supplemental detail drawings.Įlevations show the vertical layout of the building, and there is usually one elevation drawing for each face of the building. Special details of a house are included in drawings whose features are magnified so that a builder can see how to construct these elements. (Note that this type of drawing isn’t always included in the blueprints package.) Detail drawings It takes its name from the idea that you are looking down at the ceiling as though there were a mirror on the floor reflecting the ceiling’s plan back to you. The RCP is a print that shows you the dimensions, materials, and other key information about the ceiling of each of the rooms represented on your blueprint. It includes features such as walls, doors, windows, and even furniture. This is the way a floor plan is drawn, and it is designed to give you a detailed idea of the layout of each floor of the house. I'll press Command-T for free transform, and pull that in, to remove that overshot edge there. Double-clicking, for example, applies a mask, and you can simply select that mask and adjust its shape. Remember, you can also use tools to make a basic mask. If you'd like some more practice, feel free to try the other two clips. Let's go ahead to that A7R, scroll down, and turn on the spill suppression effect, and you see that the green fringe is completely removed. The advanced spill suppression option simply needs to be turned on, and it's going to take all of that out. Now that green fringe, don't worry about it. We'll switch back to the intermediate result, and it's looking pretty solid. Now I see a few little spots there, and this is where de-spot comes in. Therefore, we'll simply clip the black, to remove some of those problems. I'll drop the screen color out, not bad, take a look at the screen matte, and you can see that there's a little bit of area that's not as black as it should be. And I'll go to the project panel, drop a background in, and use that same preset for keying and Keylight. Let's go ahead and make an adjustment here. Looking at what's happening there, we've got a nice overall composite. But all in all, that's a pretty solid key. Don't worry about the green spill for now, we'll clean that up a little bit later. Now I'll switch that back to the intermediate result, to see what's happening. If you'd like, you can put a very small amount of shrink to contract inwards and soften the edge, ever so slightly. The hair has some partial transparency in it, which is desired. Let's clip the white, so that we get a nice clean white there in the middle, and slightly clip the black so it's crisp. We can refine that if we want, and I'm going to do it the easy way, using the screen matte controls. I notice, for example, that on her jewelry, we have a little bit of spill. But what we can do is view the screen matte and see the problems. Later on, we'll talk about the other two options here for key cleaner and spill suppression. This will start to knock that background out. What we need to do is, select the screen color and click close to the subject. And I'm going to grab this preset here, which is all about keying and spill suppression, and drop it on. Let's twirl that up, now I'll just type in Keylight. This will remove some of the noise in the green channel and ensure that the green doesn't have any speckles in it, which could be hard to key. Type in the word, keying, and you'll find some utilities. Come over to your effects and presets panel, if it's not visible, you can choose it from the Window menu, and choose Effects and Presets. Now to invoke the key, select the layer you want to key. We'll use the conference room and drop it down below. Now, I'll put those three into a folder, and call it backgrounds. File, Import, go to a different folder, let's grab the desert, and we'll bring in one more for variety. I'll choose this one here, background processed. Feel free to choose any of the backgrounds that you've made. You can navigate to this manually as well, by simply going to where you copied the exercise files. I'll go to folder 7.5 Focus, and then press Command-Up Arrow. Navigate to a folder that contains backgrounds. Now, we need some backgrounds, so I'll choose File, Import, File. I'll be able to scale the footage, in order to actually adjust its size, and adjust its position to taste, to get the framing I desire. So I'll switch this to HDTV, 29.97, and click Ok. And let's set the composition settings to 1920 by 1080. I'll show you my favorite key, which is going to be the Keylight plugin, and we'll use some recipes that are included with the application. Let's start to explore keying in After Effects. The more you can type up front, the less time you'll spend selecting.Ĭmd+Num is the fastest way to action an element, but only effective if you have less than 10 results. The fastest way to select a result is to have it already selected □. Hint on the element, the yellow highlighted label (least keystrokes, may not be as effective).More words from the label (most effective, but most keystrokes). If you need to refine your query further, you can append a few things to the query: Morning: First go with Yazmin (Pool) and then to the bathroom. Night: Go to Liza’s house and climb again > Lock Icon > Up arrow. Reading the hint and typing it in takes 1 to 3 seconds, depending on your reaction time and typing ability. Morning: Go to Liza’s pool, then to her kitchen > refrigerator > beer > Yazmin office > take the key (plant pot) > meet them and enjoy the scene. To make the hints show immediately, change the Show shortcuts after option in Preferences to immediately. Typing in the hint on the element will be the least keystroke method of selecting an element. Shortcat will buffer the Enter and wait for enumeration, filtering, and scoring to be complete before actioning the first result. Shortcat is designed to be activated, immediately type in a word or two of the designed action, then press Enter. If you are a fast typer, it's often going to be better to type one or two words of your desired element or intent,Īs the likelihood of your desired element/action being first is much higher, saving time. Optimising for least time spent Longer queries mean better results See the tips below on optimising Shortcat usage. Often, this is often due to too short of a query which makes filtering ineffective.
You can find some more detailed information on some of the above topics in this JetBrains tutorial. You can still suppress the inspection locally. Laravel Plugin If there already is one warning, to cause the second one does not hurt. So: either fix the issues or disable the rules to prevent the broken window effect. I suggest to keep it green so you notice new issues (even typos) right away. To make PhpStorm use them, add the directory to the custom dictionary folders in the IDE settings.Īfter doing so the inspections are all “green”. I also add uncommon words that are not in the downloaded dictionaries to a custom dictionary file. You will need to convert them from UTF-16 to UTF-8 to use them in PhpStorm. To handle non-English words, I put downloaded dictionaries in a subdirectory in the project root. So how do we handle these? Dictionaries for non English languages and uncommon words In our application we have a German front end, so a lot of german words in the code. There is only a “typo” or rather an unknown word left. I guess that’s ok, because it is not severe to disable it. The only solution I found is to disable the explicit inspection. gitignore file.īut what to do about the weak warnings? Last resort: disable some inspectionsĭuplicates of some classes now exist in IDE helper files. So… no more warnings… but notices (weak warnings)…īTW: do not forget to add files generated by helper to. Unfortunately it is not working when using the explicit App facade ( Illuminate\Support\Facades\App), only if you use the Alias. You might have to invalidate caches and restart PhpStorm for this to work. Using that file the IDE knows the type of objects created by App::make() so no inline type hints are needed. The helper can also generate a PhpStorm meta file. Since I like to have full control over my model classes, the helper code goes into an extra file.Īfter generating the model helper, the IDE resolves the static method calls to models and even knows the type of returned model objects. In order to parse the models the helper relies on the doctrine/dbal package. Model helperįor the warnings regarding the Eloquent models we need to use another helper. Preferably use dependency injection instead. But please only use them for cross cutting concerns. When you ⌘ + click the method you end up in the helper, but there you can click on the non static method to see the underlying code (so navigation is supported OK-ish).įor convenience in Laravel, some non-static methods can be called statically (through so-called facades). It no longer shows a warning (inspection is now satisfied). Now the IDE knows the static Log::info() method. Then we can generate the general helper file. So what can we do to get rid of these warnings? Laravel IDE helperįortunately Barry van den Heuvel already built a helper to fix those issues. If you right click on the file and select “Inspect code…” PhpStorm presents a list of the warnings. This is even more helpful for classes that do not fit on a screen.īTW: I prefer using the explicit facades over the aliases (I’m not using the explicit facade for “App” here, I will explain the reason for that later on). You can see the colour-coded level of the worst warning in the upper right corner. For this the IDE is building an internal model of the code using static code analysis. They are caused by the inspections in PhpStorm. So let’s take a look at an exemplary Laravel controller. In this article, I’ll show you how you can leverage the power of the PhpStorm inspections for your Laravel projects. The inspections of PhpStorm are being improved with every new release. If I manage to get all inspections on a file to pass, I see a lot of issues right away. Otherwise I would be prone to the “broken window theory”. Therefore I’d like to keep all inspections “green”. I’d like to see potential issues in my projects right away by looking at the source code. Take the 2 1/2″ x 8 5/8″ outer pieces and fold each side in by 1/2″ and press.
